The launch of the new centre of Monteith Trust in Grabouw, Western Cape gave the farming community a sense of pride and fulfilment as they saw a key component of their 5 year social development plan materialise. The Waitrose Foundation along with Albert Heijn and the Anna Foundation were acknowledged as key role players in this venture.
The farm owner, managers and the workers’ committee agreed to combine the opening ceremony with the farm’s annual ‘end-of-season’ celebrations. This turned out to be a good combination as the farm celebrated its business and social development achievements. The event was planned and executed efficiently by a team of managers, workers, students, community leaders as well as the Aftercare Facilitators.
This facility enables the team of qualified and experienced facilitators to expand their personal development and academic support services to 80-90 children/youth.
