Katco Let’s Go Let’s Grow Workshop: Effective Partnerships enhance Wellness

January 2018

The project coordinator of Katco, Heleen le Roux, built on one of the key elements highlighted at the recent Waitrose Foundation Annual General Meeting and Conference, namely the relevance of Partnerships in social development as well as in dealing with the everyday challenges of life. She organised a workshop with the Maintenance Team of Katco at their pack house in Fort Beaufort, Eastern Cape to explore the relevance of partnerships in their fraternity. The theme of the intervention was ‘Let’s Go & Let’s Grow’, which gave the activity a motivational angle.

The diverse group of employees enjoyed the interactive and activity-based approach. Key aspects that were highlighted in the workshop included dealing with Assumptions, conducting self-evaluation through probing questions and journaling as well as other life skills such as goalsetting, planning, and effective communication within teams, etc.

Raymond Engelbrecht, Field Manager of the Foundation, structured and conducted the workshop and feed-back from the participants, for whom this type of personal/professional development workshop was a first, once again confirmed the value of life-skills training in the Foundation’s quest for improved livelihoods for its beneficiaries.
